What Are The Best Mole Miner Locations?
While Mole Miner locations in Fallout 76 sound difficult to pin down, they're found all around Appalachia.
There are 20 locations where Mole Miners are present, most of which are in the Ash Heap and Savage Divide regions.
Also, if you're looking for an easy kill, don't bother heading to The Rusty Pick to kill the Mole Miner merchant there.
That one doesn't count.

EVENT: Seismic Activity | Ash Heap |
As mentioned earlier, Mole Miners tend to travel in groups, which is good if you're looking to wipe out a bunch in one trip but could also be dangerous depending on what types you run into.
Most of these areas are underground sections or very near to caves. This is where you'll want to go hunting.
If you're looking for Mole Miner pails, they only drop from Treasure Hunter variants—passive Mole Miners that periodically roam Appalachia.
To trigger the Seismic Activity Event, you first need to prepare to launch a nuke by completing a run through one of the missile silo locations.
Once you're able to select a location, launch the nuke at Abandoned Mine Shaft 2 in the Ash Heap, thus triggering Seismic Activity.
This will initiate the challenging Ultracite Titan boss fight, where Mole Miners will spawn in large numbers.

Treasure Hunters are only available during the "Hunt for the Treasure Hunter" community event that periodically runs throughout the year.
You'll want to maximize your time farming these enemies since the event only lasts for a few days whenever it's up.
The goal of the "Hunt for the Treasure Hunter" event is to collect as many Mole Miner pails as possible from Treasure Hunters.
Mole Miner pails can be looted off Treasure Hunter corpses or crafted at a workbench.
Crafted versions give a better chance for event-exclusive items, but award smaller quantities of materials.
You can earn one of three different tiers of pails (from worst to best):
- Dusty Mole Miner pail
- Mole Miner pail
- Ornate Mole Miner pail
These pails contain valuable and certain limited-time items, including:
- Caps
- Scrap
- Legendary Scrip
- Ammo
- Event-specific plans
- Event-specific gear
Whenever this event is up, consider looking at the following locations:
- Whitespring Golf Club: One of the most popular farming spots, this zone seems to have a fairly high spawn rate for Treasure Hunters. If quite a few players are already here, farm elsewhere.
- Lewisburg: This town spawns 1-3 Treasure Hunters consistently.
- Welch: Same as Lewisburg, and both towns are both in Ash Heap.
- Clarksburg: Running through this town doesn't take long and typically spawns one Treasure Hunter.
- Morgantown Airport: Multiple spawn locations for the Treasure Hunters are at this location, most of which are fairly close to each other.
- Grafton Steel: Yet another location with a high chance of spawning Treasure Hunters.
If you aren't a fan of constantly fast-traveling, farm laps around Ash Heap.
Most major locations in Ash Heap have a chance of spawning at least one Treasure Hunter.
Run through each major location and town as you're looping around the region for a good chance of finding a few Treasure Hunters each run.
