Located in the historical center at Carlsplatz, the bakery makes warm and crispy breads, croissants and all sorts of pastries that go marvelously with the generous side assortments. Variations of scrambled eggs with fresh cheese, prosciutto or sausages, honey, nuts and of course the in-house loaves are perfect for starting the day.

A wonderland for sweet-toothed travelers, Decker bakes up cakes for every craving, so breakfast is versatile and delicious. One of the favorite pieces is the house special breakfast platter that makes any morning better with Norwegian salmon, wheat bread, butter and French cheese, while Prosecco is just the cherry on top.

With splendid interiors and a soft spot for coffee lovers, Bazzar is a café where minimalist meets delicious. The architecture and arrangements bring some nostalgic shapes, colors and patterns in a modern setting, from concept, brand, chair designs to coffee beans in foam shapes. The breakfast is no less than an international mélange of omelets and fresh veggies, German sausages, English beans and Italian Truffle salami.

With its romantic 1920s atmosphere, Zicke is the real thing when it comes to breakfasting in style. Reminiscent of a Parisian corner café, Zicke is a blissful spot to start the day. The breakfast menu has oodles of tasty treats like bruschetta with tomatoes and mozzarella and a range of options for veggies, like original, home-made hummus.

A minimalist 1960s Scandinavian interior design with an incredible sixth sense for daring and exquisite international cuisine. Healthy choices abound, as the light, the traditional and the spicy come together here to create a ravishing menu. From red curry with ginger papaya, marinated tofu, roasted nuts and jasmine rice, to summer salads with fried herbs, ratatouille with savory couscous, mint yogurt and parsley, there’s always something new to try at Nooij!

6. Patisserie Passion

Pâtisserie Passion is a dream-come-true for travelers who love pastries and art in equal measure. The assortment of colorful macaroons, moose cakes, carefully decorated cookies and plenty more makes Patisserie Passion an all-time delight. The breakfast has classic starters with at least three kinds of bread, delicious rosemary-manchego cheese, Portuguese chorizo, butter and mango spreads to boot.
7. Café Leopold

Café Leopold brings back the Viennese spirit with its vintage 19th century chandeliers and classy, regal vibe. The petite, traditional but classy spot is a homage to Vienna’s high class cafés, as Brunhilde Tanaka, a friend of Kaiser Leopold I himself, inspired the whole concept. Naturally the breakfast has a familiar name, Sisi, and is a healthy combination of marmalade, butter, muesli, and vitamin juice fit for a royal.
8. Prinzengrill

Especially made for carnivores, the food here is a medley of meat. The joint is essentially a grill that grills everything there is to grill, from juicy burgers to kebabs and lamb chops. Prinzengrill is placed in a practical and chic caravan so that the delicacies can travel wherever the guests may be. Lunch times are always busy; a burst of curry sausages and spicy sauces.

9. Schwan

Right in the historical city center, the location of Schwan restaurant is nothing short of fantastic. Walking along Mühlenstraße, the classic brick look of the building catches the eye and the terrace looks inviting for a morning cup of coffee. Schwan’s interior is also great, as the relaxed living room atmosphere complements the chandeliers. The breakfast is warm and delicious, with baked croissants and foamy latte macchiatos to boot.
10. Sausalitos

Sausalitos is a Californian and Mexican diner with a burst of personality and an eye for serious brunches. Bringing the little-Italy spirit for eating large quantities all way to Germany, the authentic recipes of fajitas, tortillas and juicy burgers with French fries are simply mouth-watering. What’s more, the special brunch is an all-you-can-eat free-for-all, with old time classic fluffy pancakes sided by blueberries and maple syrup. Nice!
