Strategy for Valiona and Theralion
For this fight you will be engaging both Valiona and Theralionat the same time. They share health pools, so any damage you deal to one willaffect the other as well. One dragon will always be on the ground, while theother will always fly around in the air; periodically throughout the fight theywill alternate between being airborne and fighting on the ground. At the startof the fight Valiona will always be grounded while Theralionwill take off into the air.
Players hit by either Dazzling Destruction or
Deep Breathwill be sent to the Twilight Realm. Here you will need to dodge floating orbsthat explode with
Unstable Twilight if touched, while making yourway to the nearby portal to return to the normal realm. On heroic difficultyTwilight Sentrys will spawn periodically inside the Twilight Realm andcast
Rift Blast on a random target. You must intentionally send ahealer and a few DPS into the Twilight Realm throughout the fight to clear theseadds out to reduce the raid damage taken. While inside the Twilight Realm youwill take stacks of
Twilight Zone, dealing Shadow damage over timeand increasing all Shadow damage taken by 10% per stack; classes such as
Rogue or
Mage are ideal to send into the Twilight Realm asthey can clear their stacks with
Cloak of Shadows or
Ice Block.
On heroic difficulty while either dragon is on the ground tanks will need tobe mindful their stacks of Twilight Shift, which will beperiodically applied to the current tank. When the tank gets a fifth stack of
Twilight Shift, they will cast
Shifting Reality, damagingall nearby players and sending them into the Twilight Zone. Tanks should bestanding near no one else, and anyone assigned to entering the Twilight Zoneshould move next to the tank when they have four stacks of
Twilight Shift.
While Valiona is on the ground you will need to spread out toprevent Theralions Twilight Blast from hitting multipleplayers. Also be aware of your feet, keeping an eye out for the
Dazzling Destruction, the purple swirling ground effects thatTheralion will throw at random locations. All of this damage can, andshould, be avoided easily. Valiona herself will place a
Blackout debuff on a random player. The debuffed player muststack with the rest of the raid and get dispelledonly after reaching the group as dispelling
Blackout deals 975,000to 1,025,000 Shadow damage, but this damage will be split between all nearbyplayers. Classes like
Rogue or
Mage can simply run away fromeveryone and use immunity spells such as
Cloak of Shadows or
Ice Block to harmlessly remove the
Blackout.
Valiona will also periodically use Devouring Flames, facing a random direction and spraying Shadow flames 180 degrees in thatdirection. The damage of
Devouring Flames is reduced the fartheraway from Valiona you are; if you are near Valiona simplyrun behind her, if you are far away and she is facing you, run as far away fromher as you possibly can.
While Theralion is on the ground you will want your ranged DPS andhealers to stack together. Keep an eye out for the Engulfing Magicdebuff and move at least 10 yards away from others as you will deal AoE damageto all nearby allies, aside from yourself, with this debuff. Theralionwill also use
Fabulous Flames, spawning a large patch of fire onthe ground at the feet of a random range player. Simply move out of these as agroup, trying to place these patches of fire as near each other as possible tokeep as much of the room clear of fire as possible. If you do not move away fromthis patch of fire quick enough, you will get pulled into the Twilight Realm.
Valiona will cast Twilight Meteorite on a randomplayer, dealing damage to the target and all nearby allies, splitting thedamage evenly amongst all targets hit. If you get targeted by this, simply run tothe melee group to split the damage; if your group is low on melee DPS, have ahealer or two stand with the melee.
When Valiona is landing soon, she will will do a Deep Breathattack, covering 1/3 of the room in Twilight Flames. Anyone hit by this breathwill be transported to the Twilight Realm, and anyone that's already in theTwilight Realm and is hit by this will die. Track Valionas position andalways move out of her path to avoid this spell. After doing three
Deep Breaths Valiona will land and Theralion willfly into the air, repeating the fight like this until they die or until theyenrage after ten minutes.
